Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
To ensure the security of data in applications that use your WakeID, WCPSS is implementing multi-factor authentication. Using the Duo app, WCPSS staff will be prompted to verify their user account when accessing WakeID applications.
What is Multi-Factor Authenication (MFA)?
MFA is an extra layer of security that requires you to enter something you know – WakeID and password – and receive a token on something you have – mobile phone or other device.
When Duo is linked, it allows you to verify your WakeID account by using your mobile phone or other device.

Why is WCPSS implementing MFA?
- This is a requirement for WCPSS to maintain cyber insurance.
- Limit the number of successful phishing attempts and reduce the number of compromised accounts.
- Protect sensitive staff and student data.
What do I do if I receive a notification from the Duo app that I did not request?
If you receive a Duo notification and you are not the person logging into your WakeID user account, tap DENY. If this happens, someone has successfully entered your WakeID and password. Change your WakeID password immediately.
