Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Documents

To ensure the security of data in applications that use your WakeID, WCPSS is implementing multi-factor authentication. Using the Duo app, WCPSS staff will be prompted to verify their user account when accessing WakeID applications.

What is Multi-Factor Authenication (MFA)?

MFA is an extra layer of security that requires you to enter something you know – WakeID and password – and receive a token on something you have – mobile phone or other device.

When Duo is linked, it allows you to verify your WakeID account by using your mobile phone or other device.

Why is WCPSS implementing MFA?

  • This is a requirement for WCPSS to maintain cyber insurance.
  • Limit the number of successful phishing attempts and reduce the number of compromised accounts.
  • Protect sensitive staff and student data.
If you have any additional questions, follow your normal support procedure for technology related issues.
